When a report has differing indents for generations like the descendant narrative the notes are not left justified, their effective start point on the line depends on the indent for the generation to which they apply. In other reports as well the notes are not left justified with the report margin they are indented.
By choosing a report form I was only suggesting that you set up the format for your notes to work with the format of your favourite report. That will give you one report where you can make your tabular setting work.
