Some of my Legacy Genealogy Software (LGS) database files have names of xxx.fdb, while others have an alpha added to it, like xxx-A~1.fdb. The alphas are A - C - D - L - M - N - O. When opening and using the files with or without alphas, I detect no difference. What could be the meaning? Can I remove the alphas without disturbing the files?
