I think it's because it was never programmed that way. And I agree, very
annoying. Some fields on the source detail screens auto-convert, some
have a button to click for the current date and some have to be entered
the way you want them to print. It all depends on the type of tmplate
and there are too many for me to remember which act the way they should.
I have pretty much given up on the auto conversion feature.
