I rather think that it is a matter of personal choice, rather than source 
detail "needs" to be published.

I have my own reasons for publishing, and have no problem with people 
publishing my stuff, subject to the license. This is not to say that others 
should publish as well. I do not think it right to suggest to others that they 
should not publish sources either (you didn't - not quite) like I said it is a 
personal choice, and as such no explanation is needed.
