Legacy requires me to uase the "City, County, State, Country" hierarchy, and I am happy to use it if it helps.
There are no counties in Australia or New Zealand, and the English counties are treated as States, which is fair enough. So the "county" field is always empty for me (except for my wife's U.S. line.) Then Legacy says that a U.S. county I am using wasn't there at the relevant date, although I can turn that off. On the other hand, in the U.K. I am told to use current locations, but the county boundaries in the database are those before the redistribution. Ancestry.com says that the county field is obsolete and requires me to remove the extra comma. I bought FTM, but it is almost as useless as the Ancestry.com Web site. It allows me to merge files, otherwise I don't use it. Is there a simple way that I can delete that extra comma? Doug.
