Thank you so much for your tips and encouragement. Basically what you have suggested is what I was doing. This all comes from my early days of research about five years ago. The split screen function I have seen but only used it to compare entries between two different files. So what you're suggesting is I can use a split screen to compare records in my master database. That is definitely something our laptop a look at tomorrow.
I never merge any records unless they are my own. I learnt this when I was starting out. I have one line in the family which is notoriously difficult to get accurate records and many people come up with different results. I was using Family Tree Maker and if I remember right there was about seven of line trees so at a click of a mouse button and I merged a lot and what a mess I got. I had to delete the whole not including my research. I'm looking forward very much to the rest of the CDs and the printed manual because I am still a person who likes to have a book in my hand when I am trying to learn. Once again thank you everybody for your support Robert… On 29/11/2012 16:21, R G Strong-genes wrote: > One big tip! Have one family file that is your master.
