Bernie, For the answer to question 2. Open the Master Locations either by the menu bar or menu View>Master Lists>Location. Now you should tag all the items that are not places. To tag them all at once go through the list and highlight each one using the Cntrl key to highlight more than one at a time then once they are highlighted click on the Options button which will show a menu of selections one of which is Tag>Highlighted Records then once they are tagged click on Option>Option for Non-Location Entries and a window will open where you can select what to do with the TAGGED entries.
As far as number 1 the only way that I know of for that type would be to use "Bruck" as the Surname and use the "von Bruck" as an Alternate name or put "von" in the Title Pre field but then you would have to change your Customize Options>Data Format Letter Case of Prefix and Suffix to Don't change what I enter. You can play around with these different settings to see how they look. You can also go to menu View>Master Lists>Surnames and if you have a Von Bruck you can edit it there to von Bruck or merge it with another that is spelled the way you want. Works well for other surnames that need the first letter lowercase.
