I have many such names, "de", "van", "von", "of", et alia. It may look funny on the Individual and Family views, but it makes life much easier using the Index, and other functions where I want to find the last name, not the :von" name. I would be scrolling for pages if I did that. My way prints correctly in all the reposrts too. It is invaluable for fanilies that later dropped the "von" because all of them are listed together on the Index. I put the "von" at the end of the Given Name: Given: Jeanne d', Maud de, Arnulf van, Albrecht von, Edward ofLast: Evere, Everard, Vlaanderen, Habsburg, Salisbury One of the reasons I changed from FTM to Legacy is the many Alternates Names you can have for one person. I have found that different sources, especially medieval, use different names for people. For example, William IV de Montacute is also William IV de Montagu. He is also the 1st Earl of Salisbury. I have him 4 different ways: Montacute (Last Name), William IV de (Given Name), 1st Earl of Salisbury (Title Suffix)Montagu (Last Name), William IV de (Given Name), 1st Earl of Salisbury (Title Suffix)Salisbury (Last Name), 1st Earl, William de Montagu, of (Given Name)Salisbury (Last Name), 1st Earl, William de Montacute, of (Given Name) I can find him no matter how he his mentioned in the source. I can also find all the Earls, Dukes, etc., of whatever. I absolutely adore the Alternate Name capabilities. It is invaluable, as I said, for medieval time when people often had different spellings of their names, and held many different titles. By entering all their alternate names, I can easily find them in my database.
