Brian, I'm assuming your problem continues to happen after you've restarted Legacy & your PC/laptop. Before contacting support, I'd reinstall Legacy. If your problem can then still be reproduced consistently, I think you should call support or fill out a bug report.

"after I add a source, copy it to the source clipboard, when I try to attach it to another Event, a small window comes up that says "No current record", after clicking OK, the source opens and attaches as usual, but as above, the thumbnail is not visible."
