I only got one response to my original post (see the following), and that was another question, not a suggestion. Since my posting I've done some more investigating and isolated the problem to (seemingly) a corrupted version of Legacy on my desktop computer.
I have my Legacy7 data files sync'd between desktop and laptop computers using SugarSync (similar to Dropbox). I've found doing the same operation (opening/closing WORD, PDF, Text files) on the laptop version does NOT result in the error situation described below in my original post. Thus it seems I'm faced with reinstalling Legacy on my desktop in hopes of correcting the situation. My immediate question is......will an uninstall loose all my personalized settings in the various USR files (I've copied any file ending in .usr (62 of them) to a separate folder--I also have my data files securely backed up both to an external portable HD as well as an online cloud service!) or will they remain intact after the uninstall? Should I copy the USR files from my laptop version replace same on the desktop? Is there one Legacy file in particular that might be the corrupted one that could be repaired someway without an uninstall? What suggestions does anyone have, if any, short of going this route? For some time now almost every time I open a source document I have affixed to an individual in the "Picture Gallery" located on the FAMILY tab this happens. Doesn't seem to make any difference what type document (WORD, PDF, TIF) I have the same problem. When I close the document and return to the main page my FONTS have increased to very LARGE even though in the options I have min font size set to 12 for screen fonts. Everything on the FAMILY page is 'run together' overlapping as well. When I open the OPTIONS again everything there is in super small font to the point as to be almost illegible. Opening the INDEX tab and my customized column width settings are ignored and the columns are close together. Closing/exiting Legacy and reopening returns everything to normal, unless/until I attempt to open a document again. This is all quite hard to explain without 'show and tell' attachments, which are a NO-NO on the list. Maybe someone would contact me off list where I could send some screen shots which will go a long way in explaining my dilemma.
