Hi

I have spent the last several months organizing my media. Making more
of a directory
structure. Census jpgs in a "Census" folder. Tombstones in a
"Tombstone" folder. Etc.
It happens that I could end up with the same named jpg in different folders.
Unfortunately I recently found out that a program I love to use to
generate reports,
no longer supports same name jpgs in different folders. They will just
grab one for
all assuming they are they same. (A "feature" that others really expect
I am told. In fact
they changed the behavior for me and got a zillion complaints from other
users expecting
same named jpgs to be merged so they had to back out the change they did
for me.)
Anyway ... I am now stuck with renaming all my files to something
unique. I just want
to add a prefix to them all. I can easily do a batch rename in
Windows. "*.jpg" to
"SSDI - *.jpg" for instance. I was wondering if there was an "easier"
way to do this in Legacy
without having to go to each reference of a picture in Legacy and change
its name
individually. In other words some "batch" command or some way to edit
the fdb or ...???
I am not looking forward to more months of swapping names ... :(

Thanks!
Tom

PS By the way, I have thought of editing the ged file, but I am afraid I
will lose info in the
translation back and forth from Legacy to GED back to Legacy. I have no
way of verifying
everything comes through as it should.
