I had the same problem, which I repaired manually. One way to find them is to
look at the GEDCOM file in a text editor like Notepad. If you scroll down near
the bottom, you will see a bunch of FILE records. Look for the ones with .pdf
file extensions (or other non-pictures, such as .htm or .doc). For each one,
copy the object link, such as @M115@. Paste that into the Find string (use
ctrl+F or use the menus) and search upward to find where the object was
referenced. Then from there, scroll up carefully until you see the first 0
record, which is usually followed by the individual’s name.

This is one of several serious issues I had with FTM exports. I logged some
requests with Legacy for workarounds, even though it is not Legacy’s fault. I
don’t think I logged this one, although a workaround could be imagined for the
Legacy import. Maybe more people should log enhancement requests related to
FTM-to-Legacy transfers.

Subject: [LegacyUG] GEDCOM 5.5 Import problems with media file links

I have imported a Family Tree Maker 2012 file (via GEDCOM 5.5) into Legacy 7.5.
I have an issue with the media file links that came in. I have several PDF
files linked to both sources and people. The links came into Legacy BUT they
are linked as Pictures instead of Files. When I click on the image nothing
will open up. I think I will need to manually remove the link as a Picture and
relink it as a File. The problem is I cannot get a list of the PDF file links
that were imported. So I have no way of knowing who/what to work on. There
were no error messages and when I run a test for all multimedia paths
everything is showing OK. I have ran the View > Scrapbook to print the
multimedia list. The only PDF files shown on this list are the ones that were
loaded as Files. It is like the PDF files that were linked as Pictures do not
exist.

How can I produce a list of these PDF files in order to manually fix the type
of links?

Thanks
Don Varner
