Yes follow what Sherry stated and things will transfere, BUT I still have some
branches of my tree on Family Tree Maker because have not worked on that branch
since transfere many years ago.. I transfere manually because the notes do not
transfere to make good looking reports therefore as I worked on a branch would
move them manually because of the problem with the notes... I like very much
the way Legacy reports look much better than Family Tree Maker. Of those that
I transferred had to rework each file to get the notes to look good in the
reports and that is why I went to the manual entry... Also learned the ones
that didn't have sources and found some errors in the FTM which corrected.
Might I say, each person will do what works best for them. Why don't you try a
branch first rather than the whole, to see how you like it! Even when someone
sends my a tree even if in Legacy always work each one individually to make
sure they have all the I's dotted and the T's crossed and that way do not get
any surprises, but then I am very meticulous, because do share with other
family members and do want to be accurate. You mentioned a number of
individuals but that really doesn't mean much for accuracy is important... I
have over 20,000 on the tree at the time.
