Who said that you wouldn't be able to change the color scheme?  If you read 
carefully, the link asks one to vote on what they prefer as the "default" color 
scheme.  Nowhere does it say that choice will be the only color scheme.

IMHO I don't care about the look, as long as it's legible and fuss-free, my

The new "Blue" look is a retrograde step; setting text on a shaded background 
may look "fancy" but is harder to read for anyone with impaired sight. So I 
hope we will always have a "plain" option.
