Yes, but to have a child you must have a relationship, which is created
through the Marriage Information window.  It's there where you indicate
that the couple was never married.

If there was a child, there was a relationship, even if it was just a
one-night stand or artificial insemination.

It takes two and Legacy requires that both parents be documented, even if
one of them is unknown. You don't have to state that they were married -
there are plenty of options in the Marriage Information window to indicate
Father/Mother, Man/Woman, Unmarried and in the Wording Options "Bill had a
one night stand with Susan" if you want!
