There are several ways to accomplish this:

1. Within the image “editing” of Legacy, is the “Description” of the
image. In there you can add the names from the back of the photo. When printing
out reports that include images, you must then put a checkmark by the “Include
Description” option for Pictures. The downside of this is that if the list of
names is large, then the Caption and Description under the picture when printed
in a report would tend to look much larger than the actual picture.

2. You could also just create a text note for the main person that the
image is attached to… but remember that the note and the image have no direct
link to each other. It’s just a means for you to enter and keep the names
somewhat handy and informative.

3. If you’re feeling really energetic, use a photo editing program to
crop and/or resize the image and create a small white border at the bottom of
the photo. In that white border, enter the names and other info. When saved,
all that text becomes part of the actual image. The downside of this is that
when the picture is printed in a report, such text at the bottom of the image
is probably too small to read in the report (unless you create a custom size
large picture for the report).

4. My favorite method is to add the names and info to the metadata of a
JPEG image (not a TIFF). When you attach that image within Legacy, it will ask
if you want to include such info which then gets automatically input as the
Description for that image. The upside of this method is that such metadata is
part of the image and not really part of Legacy so that whenever you re-use
that same JPEG image over again in Legacy for whatever reason, that same
metadata has not been lost and once again gets re-imported into Legacy
automatically.

Others may have more suggestions.

Subject: [LegacyUG] How to deal with group photos within Legacy

I will be receiving a marriage group photo with the participants names on the
back of the photo. What is the best way of saving both the photo and the names
within Legacy?

Thanks in advance,

Jacob
