However, Elizabeth Shown Mills did discuss her new process map at NGS this year and it was in her syllabus and of course Thomas Jones published Mastering Genealogical Proof this year as well. Jones' book details the use of these new categories and I was informed that they will be included in ESM's newest edition of Evidence whenever it gets published. It would be nice to have these new categories included from the get-go since they have been published and accepted in the genealogical community.

Examples: the testimony of someone relating events that he or she personally experienced or witnessed; or an original document created by a party with firsthand knowledge of the information recorded. Derivative sources—material produced by copying an original or manipulating its content; e.g., abstracts, compilations, databases, extracts, transcripts, translations, and authored works such as historical monographs or family histories." In her categories authored works are just a subset of derivative. Likewise she does not use Undetermined for Information either.
