If you want to save the citation for later use (like you need to use the clipboard for an entirely different citation in the meantime), you can Save Clipboard. I believe there's room for 10 saved citations. When you're ready to go back to it, just Load Clipboard. There's nothing in the Interview>Transcripts>Privately held template which makes it unsuitable for your purpose. (The "Recorded date field" in the Source Details refers to the date you attach the Source to the Event or Fact, not to a recording of the interview.)
