Orinda, Welcome to LUG! Over the years, I've learned almost everything I know about the Legacy app from this group of helpful people.
For the Descendent Chart, click on the big "Report Options" button near the bottom of that window, click on the "Format" tab, and uncheck the "Put boxes around individuals" box. There are a lot of other parameters under the various "Report Options" tabs--it's worth a few minutes to Preview what the chart looks like with these checked or unchecked, etc. You'll find that you will need and want to do this with each report or chart as you start to use it, to get it just the way you want it before printing it & using paper & ink. For a long time, I used only Ancestor or Descendent "book" Reports, but then a few years ago I switched to Family Group Reports (or Sheets), and I had to play with those parameters a bit to get what I wanted (for example, whether to start printing endnotes on a new page or not). Once you start exploring, you will see how flexible Legacy software really is, as well as feel more in control of what you're doing. --Paula in Texas Researching: Adair Baker Beasley Benson Betz Bigley Blagrave Burton Chapman Clement Clough Coppernoll Costine Daulton Dinwiddie Doody Ellis Exline Field Floran Floyd Gates Goodale Gordon Gump Hale Harbaugh Hind Hopkins Hughes Hurdle Jones Klein Koyle Laswell McDonald Misner Passwaters Pelton Roberts Roche Ryburn Sanford Short Singer Sullivan Weller Williams ________________________________ From: Orinda Spence <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, October 3, 2013 12:24 PM Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] beginning legacy user As new user, I am having this problem. I would like to print a descendancy chart that does not have boxes and lines on it. I can get a nice listing of descendants, but when I print preview I have lines and boxes in the chart and it makes it difficult for me to read. There must be a way to just print the descendancy a list with indentions for generations. Thanks.
