Kurt,
Very good simplification.  Not sure if it will complicate the pictures request
portion of the question but it will definitely work for the descendant reports.

I think an abbreviated version of this approach would also work.  Tag the
ancestors of your target individual with the option to include siblings (there
is a further option to include the spouses of the siblings).  Export that set
of tagged individuals.  From the exported database, you can run the Descendant
Report that you want from the desired ancestor.  In addition to requiring only
1 tag (instead of 3), you have the additional benefit of being able to run the
Descendant report from any other ancestor of your target individual without
having to repeat the tagging and export process.

Emily,

If this post appears more than once, please accept my apologies – I have been
having a problem with my phone.

My method, which I first published in November of last year at
http://www.fergys.co.uk/Blogs/Y-DNA_Search.php gives an illustrated and
detailed explanation.

Additionally it also explains how to derive a similar out put for the female
side of the family, suitable for mt_DNA comparisons if required.

1) Clear 3 tags for this process
2) Tag1 all descendants of the progenitor
3) Tag2 all ancestors of the particular descendant
4) Search for individuals with Tag1 = tagged and Tag2 = tagged (this will find
the direct lineage)
5) Tag3 results of the step4 search
6) Export to a Legacy file the Tag3 individuals and check the 3 boxes under
that option to include complete group sheets of those tagged
7) Open the new exported file and produce your reports

What would be the best way of producing a descendant report that included only
the descendants and the siblings of those descendants on a particular line from
a progenitor ancestor to a particular descendant?

Is there a way to limit a descendant report to tagged individuals?

Also, I see an option in Picture Scrapbook to include only tagged media files,
but I am not sure how to tag media files.   I do not see a way to do so either
from Picture Center or from the Media Gallery or from the Edit Picture screen.

Thanks,

Emily
