You don't need to do a "save family file as" to save the changes you've just made - that's already been done by the program. You may have some other purpose for choosing that option that's not clear to me, in which case feel free to ignore me.
"Save family file as" is intended to be used when you want to change the name of the file, not for use when you're just leaving the program for now. Good to hear you've got backups in general under control. So many people don't. I'm hopeless at them myself, even though I know all about why you need them and have lost a hard drive or two (and everything on them!) over the years. That's why I now subscribe to Dropbox (so I get more than the free space) and put all my documents there. And being a paid-up customer I get better service than you'd get with only having free space.
