Another thing to consider is the description of the “original record” doesn’t
really help much –

Record Description

This index is an electronic index for the years 1867 to 1961. It is not
necessarily intended to index any specific set of records. This index is not
complete for any particular place or region. This collection may include
information previously published in the International Genealogical Index or
Vital Records Index collections.

The reference ID holds a clue to the origin of the record – it could be the
church death/burial records. However, I will have to go look at the microfilm
of those records in a couple of weeks and I want to add the index information
now so I don’t lose it.

I do understand that the original record MAY have more information. However, I
don’t have the actual record at the moment and I want to record this as being
found on FamilySearch.org. Even though it is a transcription, it is a source.

Pam,

You showed a link to a transcription of a record. FamilSearch gave a citation
for the actual record.

GS Film number:

<https://familysearch.org/search/record/results#count=20&query=%2Bfilm_number%3A1298881>
 1298881

Reference ID:

p118 no86

That's what you want to look at, the actual record will probably have more
information than the transcription.

Hi folks,

I’m a relatively new Legacy user and I’m still feeling my way around creating
sources. I’d like some help with the following.

I’ve found a death record in the FamilySearch database and would like to add it
as a source for the death of a person who already exists in Legacy. Can
someone walk me through the steps?

Here is a link to the record https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/F2PC-28M

Thanks,

Pam
