You have said in another post that you want to use Source Templates, but
I am replying again to this post so that others relate my response to
your question and example.

When you find a record in FamilySearch you are actually seeing an Index
Record which may come from any one of numerous databases, so I like to
create a separate Master Source for each database. I use the template
for Online Database. (When you've selected to Add a new Master Source
using SourceWriter, select "add a generic source here" and then select
"Online database" as the medium.

As with all SourceWriter Templates, you do not have to fill in *every*
field and you don't necessarily have to enter data which doesn't exactly
tally with the field name - the field name won't appear in your
citation. In this case, I don't fill in the first 3 fields concerning
"Author." I enter Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (or you
can just put LDS if you prefer) as the Agency/Creator. If you look at
the foot of the example you give, you will see that the database in this
case is "Canada Deaths and Burials, 1664-1955" so that goes in the next
field (Database Title). The format is Online Index. Personally, I
don't put anything in Website Creator, but I put FamilySearch as the
Website Title and familysearch.org as the URL. (You can put the precise
URL of the record you are citing here if you wish, but it makes it
quicker and easier to copy and edit this Master Source for other similar
Sources if you don't!) I don't usually bother to use the Date field - I
probably should.

The Source List Name you give this Master Source is entirely your
choice, make it something meaningful which will be easy for you to
locate whenever you want to use it.

Having created the Master Source you can attach it to any one who has an
event which appears in that Index. In this case, you may want to use
the record you refer to as a Source for Cotnam's name, his date and
place of death and the names of his parents. When you attach it to the
first field the Source Detail screen will appear and this is where to
enter the details which are specific to Cotnam's record. For Item of
Interest enter something like "Cotnam Blackburne's 1875 death" and for
Credit Line something like "citing GS film #129881".

What I like to do at this point is use the FS Catalog to look up the
film number and get the title of the film and I add that in brackets
after the film # in the Citation, though some people would frown on this
because the title isn't actually included in the record .

I also like to copy and paste the text of the record into the Text field
on the Text/Comments tab of the Source Citation.

There might well now follow posts from other LUGgers who do things
differently!
