John, I would not wait for an upgrade to V8.1 as it is not Legacy's normal practice to u[grade in that way - eg. version 7.0 went to 7.5 when the link with FS was made. They prefer to continually increase the last digit currently .357.
I think that you would be better to follow Paul's advice.
