I recently upgraded to Legacy 8 -- so far I'm using the standard version.

Before importing my main database into Legacy 8, I ran a media check
(Options > Customize > Locations > etc.

All of my pictures were in one folder (which is in Dropbox) and there were
NO missing pictures.

But after importing the file into Legacy 8 about half my pictures are
missing (almost 800 of them!), although the folder is the same one I used
in Leg 7.5 !

So what can have happened?

The filename is precisely the same. But each time it starts looking for
the right folder, it goes to the default location of my *family* folder,
instead of the default location of the media (i.e., picture) folder. Why??

Then I am told:
"There is an existing Legacy Media List. This list can be used if you have
not
added more media files since your last relink (and will save a lot of time).

"Do you want to rebuild the Media List? Click Yes to rebuild the list or
No to
use the existing list."

So I clicked "Yes" and instead of going to the aforesaid "existing Legacy
Media List" Legacy proceeded to collect "media file names from the entire
computer"!!! Why on earth did it not go to the "exiting list" it had
referred to???

The result was that I got an error message:
”Error gathering media list with Folder C:\Users\Pat-PC\Documents\my
genie-P . [full path and filename]. . .Step-9 Error 3163: The field is too
small to accept the amount of data you attempted to add. Try inserting or
pasting less data. Would you like to try again?”

So I click “Yes” and get exactly/precisely the same error message (over and
over again).

What on earth was Legacy doing plowing around in my Documents folders
anyway?? instead of going to the "existing Media List" in Dropbox where the
pictures *are* with precisely the right names? And where I have told
Legacy they are located?

I fail to understand what is going on.
