I was in the same predicament back in 2009 when I exported from FTM then imported the GEDCOM into Legacy 7. All of the media files had to be manually re-linked in Legacy.
Maybe somebody knows a faster way of doing it in Legacy 8. The new Media Relinker might be the solution only I've never tried it.
