Hi Ruth, I had not used the feature to burn directly to disc, so I tried it out to see if it does work. I am using Windows 8.1 Pro, and I don’t exactly get a pop-up balloon to say burn, but I can burn a disc. Your version of Windows may do things a little differently. Legacy makes a backup to a temporary folder, then Windows takes over for the burn to disc, so it shouldn’t have anything to do with the Legacy build.
You can backup your data to your hard drive/SD card/USB drive then burn a disc using other software, or use the SD card/USB drive to copy/transfer the data to another computer. There are other ways like networking and cloud storage to do this as well. I prefer the SD card (or USB drive) as they are cheap and reusable. I keep one locked away, and regularly send one to a relative for even more security. It is also quicker to copy/transfer using the SD card. Hope this helps. Yesterday I updated to the 8.0.0.412 build on my desktop and laptop. I tried creating a Back-Up Disk so that I can restore and update the data info onto my laptop. I am not able to create a back-up disk on the desktop. I feel I am following the directions on Legacy Family tree site and it just remains a blank disk. Previously you would get a "balloon" to click on to burn the info onto the disk. I am not getting that now. Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
