All programs have 'unresolved issues'. :-) It is entirely your choice whether you download Legacy v8 and start looking around now, or wait for a later date to do so. If you're undecided about spending money on an upgrade, use it in the free Standard mode for a while before making up your mind.
As has already been said several times now (most recently earlier today), Legacy v8 installs itself in a different location to previous versions, so it is possible to have both v8 and whatever you're using now (v7 in your case) running at the same time. Just don't try to open the same file in both programs - make a copy to open in v8 so you can still open the original in the older version.
