Another option in Windows 7 (I don't think it worked in XP, but I don't
recall) - if you already have a graphics file on your PC that you want
to use:
Right click on the folder you want to change
Select PROPERTIES
Select CUSTOMIZE tab
Select CHANGE ICON
click BROWSE (or just select from what is already displayed)
Find graphic on your drive and double click.  Note that the graphic can
be under several different extensions:
*.ico
*.icl
*.dll (some have icons)
*.exe (some have icons)
and even some:
*.bmp
*.JPG
and probably more.

HOWEVER - I'd strongly suggest you say with the top 4 (that's the
defaults that the icon BROWSE looks for).  Going with something else may
result in a big graphic file that could "bite you" down the road.
