VMWare Fusion is not the same program as Apple Parallels and Parallels is not Parallels Fusion.
Like Leon, I am running Parallels version 9.0.24229 but I am still running Windows XP SP3. It works fine. I plan to upgrade to Windows 7 or 8 because Microsoft is not providing support for XP any longer but the old XP is not the issue. VMWare Fusion current version is 6 so you may want to upgrade that virtual machine software to the latest. My guess is Legacy 8 has problems with those old systems. I would recommend you upgrade to at least Windows 7 or 8 and Fusion 9. The other option is to downgrade Legacy to about Version 4 or 5 to be more like your other computer software vintage. If your Mac computer is similar vintage as your software, you probably lack enough memory to be running a virtual machine. I recommend at least 8GB and prefer 16 GB when running VMs on a Mac. I would not run the new Windows 7 or 8 with less than 6 or 8 GB in a VM. Most Windows 8 systems come with 8-12 GB of memory today. The older versions of Fusion does not have current drivers to support a lot of the newer software. I think your basic problem is incompatible / outdated software.
