I have the same problem. There are certain places in Legacy, most notably in
the child area of the family view, where my mouse clicks are not consistently
recognized. I’ve never been able to resolve why this only occurs for only a
few users. It’s some sort of hardware/device driver issue, but why it seems to
only occur in Legacy and only in some portions of Legacy is a mystery.

With respect to your specific problem of deleting a child, an alternative
method is to click on the child sorting/status icon in the upper right of the
children section of the family view and delete from there. You can also add
children and do other operations on the children from there.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Right clicking or clicking

Since the new release of Legacy 8 clicking does not work for me or is extremely
slow. If I want to add a child clicking will not work and I have to use the
pull down menu. If I wish to disconnect a child from it's parents or a spouse I
have to click multiple times in order to get the menu to come up. Is there a
setting to change? I am a woman of little patience so it gets frustrating.

I have an Acer Aspire with 6GB RAM and a 1T disc with less than half in use. I
do have the latest version of Legacy. I have installed, uninstalled,
reinstalled, shut down, restarted, clicked my heels together three times,
wished upon a star, and threw a coin in the fountain, etc.

If there is another way to disconnect a spouse or child, I would use it but
these are the only instructions.

To reach this screen, right-click on a person on the Family or Pedigree View
and choose Unlink / From Parents.

When you choose to unlink an individual from their parents, you are telling
Legacy to break the tie that exists between that person and their parents and
their siblings (if any). Unlinking a person does not delete the individual
from the Family File. It simply disconnects him or her from having a child
relationship to the current parents and a brother-sister relationship with any
siblings.

Before completing the unlink command, Legacy displays a window containing the
name of the parents and a list of any siblings currently linked to the
individual. You can then complete the unlinking by clicking Yes or abort the
command by clicking Cancel.

Looking for a solution,

Vivian
