I'm not sure what is going on. (I somewhat suspect the denial of services story for a number of reasons despite what Ancestry put out but the sites have definitely been down. The sites that have been down - or up and down - include Ancestry, Rootsweb, Fold3, Genealogy.com, etc.
Earlier this afternoon Ancestry proudly proclaimed they were back up and running - and then had to admit via twitter that they were not up and running. All you can do is keep trying. At some point I suspect someone will fix whatever and they really will be up and running.
