http://geonames.usgs.gov/ says "Township of Alban" Grant co SD 451140N 0963237W Township is defined as : Class Code Description: Active Minor Civil Divisions. An active county subdivision that is not coextensive with an incorporated place. It covers 3 topo maps which might explain the discrepancy: 1. 45.1944431 -96.5435698 451140N 0963237W Milbank East 2 45.1856212 -96.6325636 451108N 0963757W Milbank West 3 45.1954234 -96.4762297 451144N 0962834W Rosen > With no tool to at least review the places in some sort of > batch (like maybe 25 places on a page each with a small map > of the geo-coded place. The locations list shows the geocode -- assuming you can find the location in either GNIS or the geocode list. I notice that none of Virginia's Independent Cities can be coded. As in, Winchester is an IC and county seat of Frederick County; it isn't in there as Wincheter, Frederick County, Va, USA and it isn't in there as Winchester Va USA and it isn't in there as Winchester (Winchester City) Va USA. [unless that's been fixed for V8, which I can't check because it's too big a db to d/l on dial-up and until I put the program on my laptop, I can't get it d/l over hi-speed. :( ] FWIW Cheryl Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
