Pat, There are two ways you can remove them completely. 1) Get a list of who has an AFN through a detailed search Individual - Ancestral FN - not equal to - <don't add anything and make sure there isn't even a space> Then on the Edit tab of the Search list created, go through and remove each one.
2) Use Search - Search and Replace on the Ancestral File Number. You may have to be creative to find them by searching for a particular letter or number anywhere in the field and then replacing the whole field with nothing at all. The ways so far provided have been about not seeing it on Family View or in Reports but I understood you to say it was irrelevant to you and you wanted to remove it.
