I think you are meaning the Event date rather than a date in the source?

Do you have anything for the Census Event date?

If you have the year, you could use Search - Search and Replace - on
Event Date
eg Search for 1851
Replace with 30 Mar 1851
Replace whole field.
You'd need to do the replace one by one and check that it was a census
event that had been found and not some other event happening in 1851.

If you haven't entered a date at all in the date field then someone
would have to know how you have entered the data to be able to write you
one of those clever formulae.
