Hi Paula

In the Jewish patronymic system the first name is followed by either ben- or
bat- ("son of" and "daughter of," respectively), and then the father's name.

Here are some examples.

Samuel Isaacs
Patronymic: Shmuel b Yitzhak

Abraham Isaacs
Avraham b Yitshak

Woolf Isaacs
Zev b Shmuel

Rebecca Isaacs
Rivka Rahel b Shmuel

I have put them in the AKA field. Just interested if anyone does something
different.

Regards,

Jennifer

Jennifer, I don't know enough about Hebrew patronymic names to make a
suggestion. There's not a field for them, but if you share some details or
examples, maybe we can make suggestions. --Paula

Subject: [LegacyUG] Jewish patronymic

I have a small branch in my tree where a second cousin married a Jewish man.
I have been researching this family for my cousin and have now come across
records which give the Hebrew patronymic names. Where should I enter those
in Legacy?

Regards,

Jennifer
