Just a suggestion - since Dropbox worked fine for you why not use both, DB
for the Family File and Google Drive for whatever else you use?  Unless the
Family File is too big.

I have both Dropbox and Skydrive for different purposes and have yet to get
close to running out of free space on either!

I do use Google Drive for a company database but only access it through the
website. I don't have a Google Drive folder on my computer. It's pretty
slow and I'm not particularly thrilled with it!
