Ron, It's GREAT to hear from you and so glad you're much better, yes, I use to
read some of the post on the legacyusergroup, and kept noticing you were not
commenting, so knew you were not well and wasn't our last e-mail.  I know this
is one area you are so good at and have helped so many of us, so glad you're up
to the task again, it was not the same without seeing your comments.
DNA is almost useless with out the paper trail to back it up, but it certainly
confirmed through y-DNA with an author of a book that is extremely
documented/sourced on my maiden name line that we are related to him (my
brother did the y-dna test).  I told the author about the y-DNA project and he
immediately tested and it proved our connection and now several others have
tested proving their line also in various places across the USA.
Keep up the good work and hopefully in good health.Syble

 Sybil,

I ain't gone yet, but thanks for the kind words.

I hope to be back in full swing again by February (after I return from my
Christmas/New Year hols. in Spain.)

Cathy has been on this list longer than I, and I learned a lot from her when I
first started over ten years ago (sorry to age us, Cathyp!).

Legacy is not good with recording and utilizing DNA results. In fact I cannot
see what it can do other than act as a repository, which is all I use it for.

If you study the DNA forums even the experts in the field admit that
comparisons, particularly with atDNA, are difficult. I am by no means an expert
in DNA analysis, but am  reasonably competent at Maths and regularly see so
called matches being claimed using very dodgy maths, and ignoring probability
theory.

Although I have done little for over a year, except read, I think that DNA
results need to be supported by conventional genealogy. I have not tried Legacy
to do this, and to me the obvious is to store the terminal SNP, or whatever
comparator, in a searchable field, then use the Legacy searches to find matches.
