Error 48 and Error 91 more or less FIXED

Several of you know that I have been struggling with these two errors for
some weeks now. I have tried everything imaginable - and some pretty
unimaginable, taking hours at a time - but today although the errors were
both mentioned, by saying 'No', the program didn't crash. I have been able
to search and get a list without problems and file/repair without crashing.

I took the advice given with the result that my drivers have been updated,
my Windows Update has been run and failed updates re-run. I use CCleaner
and took the plunge to clean the registry (but kept a backup in case) and
finally disabled a Security program supplied by my bank (Trusteer Endpoint
Protection) but I really don't know if these affected anything.

Anyway, I am reasonably happy now. Thanks for all the suggestions.
