I have tried to duplicate your problem of editing a source detail and/or master source with a picture attached. In my system everything works fine for SourceWriter Style sources.
For comparison I used the Sample File that comes with Legacy so you can also use that file to test your problem. Use Asa Clark Brown in the sample file Open his source list Select the 1860 US Census source for his Name Edit Source Add a picture on the Media tab Use the picture of David Clark Brown Save The Master Source should now display David Clark Brown's picture on the Media Tab as a Master Source Picture Edit Source again Select the Text/Comment tab for the source Enter some text in each of the comment and Text boxes Save NOTE: I was presented with a screen where Legacy asked if I wanted to save my changes to all existing uses of the Master Source or as a New Master Source. I saved as a change to the existing. The text and comment entries I made when editing the Master source were saved and Legacy did not have a problem For testing the edit of source details with a picture I added a picture to the Birth source Brown Family bible Select that source for the birth Click Edit Detail On the Media Tab I added the sample - Brown family bible3.jpg Picture to the detail I saved and confirmed that the media showed up on the Source Detail Picture side of the media tab Edit detail again I added a page number, come comment in the provenance line and text to both the detail text and detail comment boxes. everything saved perfectly.
