Sherry I expected as much but thought I'd give it a try anyway. Because I load and manipulate large amounts of data directly to the database using Microsoft Access rather than the Legacy front end program, I thought it would be useful to know all the things the check/repair routine already checks for so that I can make sure that my own data upload and manipulation routines are consistent with these. I already know some of the things it checks for as a result of mistakes I have made when uploading data in the past, and have needed to restore a backup as a result. I run check/repair at least once every day and after each data upload or data manipulation routine when doing these so it is a feature of the Legacy program that I very much rely on and appreciate.

We don't have a clue what the steps are either. Just as with other programming code, I suppose the programmers don't consider this something that any of us really need to know beyond what's in the Help file under File: Maintenance > Check and Repair Family File. Alan, my steps go by so fast I don't even see all the numbers! Patsy's suggestion to regularly run Check/Repair is an excellent one, especially if you are doing a lot of work in the file.
