I don't know when, when, what nor how I screwed the situation up, but I have multiple 'error' situations that have cropped up using the Legacy 8 Deluxe version on a WIN8 OS.
Somewhere along the line I've created a situation where not only does Legacy NOT recognize I'm a registered user even after repeatedly clicking I am but upon (trying to) open any family file the 1st screen I get is one that says: ERROR:0 Error opening the Event initialization file. Could not find file (then the path....\_AppData\DBM\Legacy16.dbm) Would you like to TRY IT AGAIN? with YES NO QUIT ONLINE HELP options. Opting for QUIT kicks me out of Legacy. Opting for NO brings up another screen that says: ERROR:0 Error opening temporary work file. Error 3024. Could not find tile (then the path....AppData\DBM\Legacy17.dbm'). Would you like to TRY IT AGAIN? with YES NO QUIT ONLINE HELP options. Opting for QUIT kicks me out of Legacy. Opting for NO gets me to my family file where along the top menu is the ICON "UNLOCK Deluxe". As noted repeatedly 'unlocking' doesn't make any difference as the next time all the above is repeated. I've tried the remedies I found on-line researching these error messages to no avail. The only .dbm file(s) I find are: Profile, PicList, Legacy1. One 'solution' mentioned was to run Ccleaner by Piriform and/or repairing the registry with a Microsoft Support "Free Windows Registry Repair" program. Did both and STILL have the same problem! (And yes, I've did a cold reboot afterwards!) ANY help with this situation will be greatly appreciated to get me back on track..... If anyone wants to reply off list I can supply screen shots for further explanations.
