That is exactly what I do. I import my 7.5 created GEDCOM into 8, every three 
or four months to see if 8 is usable yet. Yesterday was one of those times, and 
so, I must wait longer.

I really don't like using beta versions, which I consider 8 still to be. Every 
bug fixed seems to create one or more new ones. Sigh.
