I had this same error when I had Win10 up and running for a few days.

Legacy ran perfectly for a day or two and then I got the error you mentioned:
“Error Opening Message File. Could not lock file”. I’m not sure if Legacy
support may have another answer for you but I found that it has to do with file
permissions. How or why the OS changed some file permissions remains unknown. I
was able to manually change the file permissions and make Legacy run again.
It’s not something an ordinary person should get involved with but if you feel
up to, check the file permissions on the main .fdb file.

That was my final straw with Win10 and even that was after doing a clean
install. I reinstalled Win7 and haven’t looked back since.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Can't Launch Legacy 8

Hi everyone - I just upgraded to Windows 10 and I am getting the following
error when attempting to launch a fresh install of Legacy 8:

Error Opening Message File.
Could not lock file

I can only launch Legacy if I RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR, but I get a message
beforehand which states:

The language file Legacy8.lng is the wrong version:
Expected Version: 30 July 2015 01:28:39
Your Version: 26 Feb 2015 22:23:11

But when I take a look at the properties of Legacy8.lng, it tells me that file
was modified 30 Jul 2015 1:32:44 A.M., not 26 Feb 2015 as stated on the
message. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling without any success. Anyone have
an idea what is going on?

Thanks,
