(Using v 7.5) I was working on our family history and had a little under 800 people in the database. Then I got busy building our new house (as the general contractor) and my Dad offered to work on it. This was great because he was living in Maine (I'm in Texas) where most of the older folks are and my mother can still speak French (many of them don't speak English). I figured he'd gather family stories from them and make a few updates to the database.
At the time we didn't know about the collaboration features in Legacy so I just sent my father the database files. I'm now ready to resume the project so he sent me his revised version. There's now 12,500+ people in the database. He's apparently been incorporating whatever info he's found on the internet and hasn't vetted any of it. Yikes! Of course, I don't want to hurt his feelings so I just thanked him for his work. I now have two copies of the database: the original I sent to him and the revised one he sent back. I was originally thinking I could tag each event as "need to verify," but you can only tag people or marriages. Tagging a person doesn't work because I may have verified the birth, but not the death, etc. Is it easier to just start a new file? I'm open to any suggestions on methods of sorting through this mess.
