June,
When you go to View > Trees > Refresh you get a list that shows each
separate tree with the name of the person with the lowest RIN in that
tree. The number in brackets is the number of people in that tree. Each
tree is completely disconnected from any other tree in your family file.
When you go to Preview you will see only that one name, the lowest RIN
in the family group.
To see the whole family, clear a tab, and use the box at the bottom of
the screen **Tag the entire tree of the highlighted individual** with
the tab number you have cleared. Close this screen.
Go to the Name List, go to Search > Show all tagged, and choose your
tag number. You have now have a list of all the names in that tree.
You can have as many separate trees within a file as you like (I have 64
separate families in my local Museum file of 21,000 people)

Boyd, I just saw your message to Jane regarding unlinked individuals.
As I thought it was possible that I had an unlinked individual, I did as
you suggested to Jane - thinking it would come up with a list of unlinked
people - but it came up with my name and the number 15 against it. I went to
preview thinking that it would show a list of something but it just had my
name and the number 15.
Could you please explain what that means?
Thank you
June

Jane,
There is no reason why you can't have her as an unlinked individual, with
all her own data, within your main database. She will show in the name list,
and can be linked when you find a connection but will generally not show in
any other lists or reports.
If you go to View > Trees > Refresh that you may find you already have some
floating individuals.
