The LUG email (what you are using right now) works like this. Someone sends an email to the group. Everyone in the group gets the message. If anyone posts a rebuttal, everyone gets the rebuttal as well. You see everything that is sent to the email group.
Facebook is more like a forum (sort of but not quite). If you post a question or comment others will then answer or comment and then the responses are seen directly below the original post. There can be several conversations going on at the same time. If someone comments on a post it gets sent back to the top of the list. If a thread gets quiet and no one posts anymore then it drops down to the bottom and will eventually drop off of the first page. You can still access the older messages by going to the previous pages. The only way you can access the Facebook group page is to have a Facebook account. Sherry, one of the other techs, doesn't use Facebook at all except for the group. She created a profile but doesn't accept friend requests or anything and she doesn't post anything on her wall. Jairmie made a Facebook account just for Legacy that is separate from his personal Facebook account. If you are worried about privacy I would create a new email address with gmail and then join Facebook using that email address. You could also do the same thing with the email list if you wanted to keep the LUG stuff away from your personal email account. I'm not quite sure how this works. Are there instructions for formatting addresses ( I noticed the "on behalf of" tag) and how the group works or functions. As soon as I signed up I started getting all kinds user group email. Is this the norm. Am I doing something wrong? I was originally looking for an on line forum ( many software companies have them) so I would not swamp the legacy folks with question that probably have already been answered. I don't use and have avoided FaceBook as a matter of habit. Don't use a smart phone( someday maybe) so don't know if Facebook Legacy User group can be accessed any other way or if it would justify doing so. I'm open to any suggestions. I have many questions I know are already asked and answered. But where and how is the best way to ask for myself? Thanks in advance.
