1) Go to OPTIONS > CUSTOMIZE > DATA FORMAT. Scroll to Option 3.3 and make sure
it is set to UPPERCASE. Click the APPLY button over on the right to make sure
that ALL of your surnames are in uppercase. Close the customizations screens.

2) Now go to TOOLS > POTENTIAL PROBLEMS. Click the STANDARDIZATION tab. The
very last entry is SURNAME ENTERED AS ALL CAPS. Uncheck that box.

Now you are good to go.

Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Surname in all capitals

I want my surnames in all uppercase, but continue to get little red buttons by
each name designating a problem. How do I get rid of the error button?

Yes,
Go to Options - Customise 3.3
Choose Initial Caps and click the Apply button.
You may need to check the Master Surname List for surnames with prefixes and
edit them individually if necessary.

Someone sent me a Gedcom file with the surnames in all caps.

Is there an easy way to change them to upper/lower case in Legacy 8.x?
