Hi Shirley

I have a family tree that covers 14 generations and over 5000 names. I have
TreeDraw but I recently used the charting within Legacy to produce the family
tree with all names including spouses on it for a family reunion. All on one
chart in 8pt font spreading many metres around 3 walls of a large hall. I
thought it better than charts I could get out of TreeDraw for the purpose

We also used some nice charts from TreeDraw I should add

Its horses for courses

Cheers Stan

Hi R G,

Thanks for replying. I'm working on five generations, but I think I'll buy the
TreeDraw Legacy program to ensure that an attractive chart can be made.

Shirley,

How many individuals and generations are you talking about that you want to
chart?

Hi Leon,

Thank you for your advice. I tried the Legacy Charting options, but for some
reason only the current record names appear. The only chart that works with all
records is the Descendant chart under Chart Reports, which appearance is not
what I'm looking for. I think I might have to buy TreeDraw Legacy for all the
entries to appear properly. You say that none of the chart programs work well,
so I'm a bit confused. In my online search, the solution that was shown was the
TreeDraw program, in which one could format the lines, fonts, colours, etc.
once it imports the data from Legacy. If you have a chance, I'd appreciate your
feedback on this.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

I think you are asking for something that you won't like if you had it. My
experience with any of the charting programs, you will only be able to use
maybe 4-5 generations and beyond that you are creating such a large chart, you
can't see or print it on any reasonable size of paper or poster.

I have about 40,000 people in my database and anything over about 4-5
generations is too large to use. Some of my families go back 15-20
generations. In Legacy, you can create a chart of Fathers only that would span
that many generations.

In Legacy, use the Legacy Charting icon to the right of the Internet icon and
you can plot lots of different charts. I would suggest you try some of those
before purchasing other software.

In some of my testing of Legacy Charting, I have created charts of over 100
generations. The problem is, you cannot print that size of chart - it is just a
paper generator.

If you only have a few people in your database with only 3-4 generations, then
you could chart something useful to be printed.

Anyway, just my thoughts, you won't be happy with what you are asking for.

Chap

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hi Evelyn,

I have chart reports and other reports, but there are no options for either.
Thanks for getting back to me.

Have you tried the Legacy Charting options on the Reports tab?

I just purchased Legacy, and it seems that I can't make a chart of all family
members in one chart. I checked online, and I found that if I buy TreeDraw
Legacy, I could use that for all the info in the Legacy data base. It seems
like a waste of money for a genealogy program to not have the option to view
the complete family tree. Any ideas or advice are welcome.
