Hi

From the locations list, select the one that you want to
change and then click the Edit button at the bottom.

At the bottom of the window you can explicitly set the Latitude and
Longitude settings for the location.

I normally use Google Maps, right click on the location and click on What's
here? In the list.

That puts a window at the bottom with the coordinates in degree and decimal
formats, which not what Legacy needs.

Select and copy that back into the location search and hit Enter.

You will then get it redisplayed in the location Legacy expects - degree
minute second format that you can copy and put into the Legacy form.

I keep on having to do that for locations that are not in the Legacy
database, which can be very bad for UK locations.

Regards

Chris

Subject: [LegacyUG] Adding placenames to Legacy locations

Although Help says this is possible, it's not what I thought it meant; and
clicking the Geo-coding button to have Bing Maps have another try doesn't
work for the placename I want to add.

I have a locality in the Australian State of South Australia, called
Linfield.

Legacy/Bing Maps gives me Lindfield (a suburb in Sydney, New South Wales,
Australia).

The 2012 Gazetteer for Australia can give me the geographic coordinates as
follows

http://www.ga.gov.au/place-names/

Linfield

SA

        U

-35 8

139 41

Is it possible for me to enter those into Legacy?

This is not a one-off for me (there are other placenames that I could "enter
into Legacy's system", if it were possible).

Albert Park, Victoria 3206 Australia
